Ribbed Anklets Pattern for Knitting

Size 8 ½ to 11

1 Pr. Standard No. 2 Needles

SCALE: 8 sts to 1 in.

JACK FROST SPORT YARN —2 2-oz. Balls

Cast on 60 sts. Work in twisted rib pattern as follows:

Row 1—(right side) —P 1, * K 2, P 2, repeat from * across row ending K 1.

Row 2 —K 1, * P 2, K 2; repeat from * across row ending K 1. Repeat above 2 rows working a twisted st over each rib of K 2, on the 3rd and every 4th row thereafter as follows: P 1, * K the 2nd st on left hand Needle, then K the first, drop both sts from left hand Needle to right hand Needle tog., P 2; repeat from * across row ending P 1.

Work in twisted rib pattern for 2 in. ending on wrong side. Decrease to 58 sts on the last row by knitting 2 sts tog. at beginning and end of row, then work in ribbing of K 2, P 2, being sure that ribbing matches, until piece measures 4 in. in all.

HEEL: Knit 14. Place remaining 44 sts on st-holder. Work back and forth in stockinette st on the 14 heel sts for 24 rows, ending with a purl row. Turn this half of heel as follows:

Row 1 —K 2, K 2 tog., K 1; turn; slip 1, P 3; turn.

Row 3 —K 3, K 2 tog., K 1; turn; slip 1, P 4; turn.

Row 5 —K 4, K 2 tog., K 1; turn; slip 1, P 5; turn.

Continue working as given above until all sts are worked; there will be 8 sts on the Needle, ending with K 7, K 2 tog.

Pick up and knit 13 sts on side of heel. Place the sts from st-holder to left hand Needle and work in ribbing across the 30 instep sts. Place the 51 sts just worked, on st-holder. Work back and forth on the remaining 14 heel sts for 25 rows ending with a knit row. Turn this half of heel as follows:

Row 1 —P 2, P 2 tog., P 1; turn; slip 1, K 3; turn.

Row 3 —P 3, P 2 tog., P 1; turn; slip 1, K 5; turn.

Row 5 —P 4, P 2 tog., P 1; turn; slip 1, K 5; turn.

Continue as given above until all sts are worked; there will be 8 sts on Needle, ending with P 7, P 2 tog.

Pick up and purl 13 sts on side of heel. Place the sts from st-holder to left hand Needle and work across row keeping the 30 instep sts in pattern to toe. (72 sts).

INSTEP SHAPING:

Row 1 —K 19, K 2 tog., pattern over 30, slip 1, K 1, PSSO, K 19.

Row 2 and all even rows purl, keeping the 30 instep sts in pattern.

Row 3 —K 18, K 2 tog., pattern over 30, slip 1, K 1, PSSO, K 18.

Row 5 —K 17, K 2 tog., pattern over 30, slip 1, K 1, PSSO, K 17.

Continue decreasing as given above until 58 sts remain.
